After stopping counterpoint lessons with the composer, organist and pedagogue Marco Enrico Bossi, Malipiero continued study on his own by copying out music by such composers as Claudio Monteverdi and Girolamo Frescobaldi, thereby beginning a lifelong commitment to Italian music of that period.
