Universal Music's planned takeover of EMI has been approved by the European Commission.Clearance for the deal has today been awarded to Universal a unit of French media giant Vivendi, but the firm will have to sell off certain EMI assets, including the historic Parlophone label, which has artists such as Pink Floyd, Kylie Minogue and Blur.
