To say that most persons approve of something, X, is to make a statement about them; but to say that X is right is to say something quite different, which has a consequence (if not part of its meaning) that they ought to approve X. Normative terms occur, of course, in disciplines other than ethics (for example, ???beautiful??? in aesthetics); but in ethics there occurs an array of normative terms?
