I suspect that people who focus on issues like personhood, Marquis's argument, etc. take it to be the case that abortion is wrong if and only if the fetus is a person, or if and only if it is wrong to deprive persons of a future, and so forth, so that if fetuses are not persons, or it is not wrong to deprive persons of a future then the abortion debate would be settled.
