Jules Feiffer began a career as a cartoonist-writer at The Village Voice in 1965, and later contributed to Playboy, Esquire, The New Yorker, and other publications, that influenced more than two generations of cartoonists, and radically shifted reader's expectations of what to expect in a comic strip.
