A second slit or recess, opposed to the first slit 59, and of sufficient size to accommodate the second end of the bar 65, may be formed in the bone 15, either by the prior use of suitable forming equipment, such as a saw, in a manner similar to that by which slit 59 is created, or by forcing (i.e. pounding) the second end of the bar 65 into the soft cancellous bone 15 surrounding the hole 53.
