In shallow water where temperature, salinity, and other factors were satisfactory, however, faunas rich in bryozoans, echinoids, solitary corals, brachiopods and pelecypods thrived locally and their remains were concentrated by wave and current action into thin, discontinuous coquinoidal limestone deposits.
