It should be understood, in this regard, that the closed-circle, circumferentially compressible, toroidal ring-like structure can serve not only as a means for reinforcing a residual natural capsular bag around its entire periphery and for preventing collapse of the bag, but also as a full receptacle in either the bag or the ciliary sulcus for an IOL or other device to be implanted therein and as
