The dissent suggests that we must trust Shaw's lawyer, who is in a superior position to know the value of his client's claim, because [b]oth from oral argument and from [an] affidavit, it is [ ] clear that Shaw's lawyer is a knowledgeable practitioner in the personal injury field who knows all about his case * * * (dissent at p. 21).
