Treatment should be tailored to the patient???s prognostic factors (high sUr, previous attacks, and radiographic signs), the clinical phase of the disease (acute, recurrent, tophaceous) and general risk factors, such as obesity, alcohol consumption, renal impairment, use of diuretics or other risk factors for secondary hyperuricemia.
