Approximately a third of U.S. adults 20 years of age and older (over 60 million people) are obese (Sturm, 2002; Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2006a, 2007).Obesity increases the risk for many medical and psychiatric conditions such as coronary heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancers, and depression (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2006a, 2006b; United States Departme
