Examples of materials suitable for use as the selective dissolving means according to this invention include certain polydimethylsiloxane materials which are known to be useful in aqueous solutions and are effective in allowing CO2, oxygen, benzene, formaldehyde and other gases, vapors or liquids to permeate into the polydimethylsiloxane material.
