Traces the twentieth-century of Chicano education into four eras; when de jure segregation was replaced by unofficial practices of separation, followed by a period of militant activism that bilingual and bicultural education, affirmative action, and other policies, which was in turn by a halt, and in some cases, a rollback of educational reforms.
