Patient age, sex, and race remained mostly unchanged over time but several comorbidities were more commonly coded, including hypertension (51.8% in 1999, 65.7% in 2011), diabetes mellitus (21.0% in 1999, 27.7% in 2011), and renal failure (2.4% in 1999, 10.4% in 2011).
