Considering the recommended advice of controlling alcohol drinking and reducing, or avoiding, coffee to prevent GERD symptoms[81,94], several studies investigated the role of alcohol and coffee in GERD. While some authors have suggested that alcohol is an independent risk factor for GERD-related symptoms[95-98], others have not found such a relationship[99-102].
