Technical applications and databases have been quicker to take advantage of 64-bit architecture, says Intel's Barbara Grimes, who also notes that about 300 64-bit applications and tools are already available, including Microsoft's SQL Server, Windows Server 2003, Oracle's 9i database, and some Linux versions.
