Flat bottom river barges laden with salt and other goods pass through Weissenburg, travelling the Marosch (Mure?? to the Vlachs) from origins as far away as Reghin (home of the Voivode Visya) in the north-eastern part of the plateau, Arad and Deva in the west (both strongholds of Voivode Rustovitch) and through to Szeged in Hungary (which holds a powerful Arpad castle).
