Although Indo-Trinidadian girls and women are now regularly attending schools, jobs and social activities that are multi-ra cial and multi-religious, exposing them to different forms of womanhood, parents still e xpect them to return home and shed any behavior or perspectives that contradict tr aditional community values and beliefs (Kanhai 1999).
