  • The main thing is that Rowling just is not that good a writer and if you are going to write characters from outside your own cultural background, you need to be good to not fall either into stereotypes, or into palette swap characters where you can not really tell a character was meant to be Chinese or Black or whatever other than through their name and physical description.
