  • dahl is basically saying that compared to nowadays, the constitution is not all that democratic, but it was back when it was written. most of the things that are pointed out weren't seen too often, such as free speech and all men are created equal, even though slavery was still going on. we have different standards in this day and age and i do not think the constitution is all the democratic.
