Many common monosaccharides or polysaccharides such as glucose, dextrans, dextrins, celluloses, hydroxyethyl starches, heparins, starches, dextran sulfates, carboxylmethylated dextran and carboxymethyl cellulose do not interact with receptors involved in RME; they are referred to below as non-RME monosaccharides or polysaccharides.
