According to police-reported data, older teens, particularly those aged 16 and 17, committed a larger volume of crime and a wider array of offences than their younger counterparts.16 Thus, older youth were more likely than 12- to 13-year-olds to be accused in crimes such as traffic violations and robbery, offences which occurred in outdoor public space more often than other youth crimes.
